Der UnterDerWocheCocktail die 33. – The DuringTheWeekCocktail No. 33

Was soll denn das… Ist da so eine amerikanische Unsitte? Neenee.

Man nehme
3cl Whiskey (Bourbon)
1 Zitronenzeste (optional)
2x Eiswürfel (für Shaker und Glas)

Man gebe

Hhhmmm!

No classic cocktail today. Instead I offer the smell and taste of summer. This drink is from the 90ies but you won’t taste it – I promise. This drink is one even I put up with the shaker for (and that means something).

We met each other in the Deck8 in Kiel. As far as I know till now, the recipe there is the reason I love the Markee. Would I have met the Markee made with another recipe – I’m sure, the love would not have started. Most of the recipes in the net look like this: Whisk(e)y, raspberry liqueur, cranberry juice, lime Juice, lemon juice, mint leaves to decorate. Only Martha Steward recommends real raspberries in it …

Lime Juice? What the hack do people put this stuff into nearly every cocktail recipe for? Is this an American thing? Not needed here – oh no! Mint? Don’t need mint here! Just the raspberries and the lemon will do the trick. This drink will hit you with summerfeelings and fruity taste. Not too complex but not too simple either. But never make it without real raspberry in it (fresh, frozen, mash). The smell and taste will be a full reward!

Take
3cl Whiskey (Bourbon)
1cl Raspberry-Blackberry-liqueur (e.g. Chambord)
2cl lemon juice
4cl Cranberry-juice
1 Tablespoon raspberry mash or 6 fresh raspberries (you can make a batch out of frozen raspberries and freeze the mash)
1 lemon zest (optional)
2x ice cubes (for shaker and glass)

Make
Put all the ingredients (except ice for the glass and zest) into shaker with ice. Shake well (take care: if this one will blow up – the kitchen will be pink!). Strain into glass with ice cubes. Rub the zest onto the rim an add it to the drink. That’s it.

But be aware: after the first I always want another one, and another, and another…
